With a bar countertop existing in the room already, a
trompe l'oeil mural was added to the wall behind the
bar, tripling the size of the bar. Everything that is
behind the sink is painted, except for a telephone. A
beveled mirror reflects a scene of a billiard hall.
Details like a wine rack, a hanging glass rack, beer
taps, crystal decanters and glowing wall sconces were
painted to add authenticity,and bring life to the mural.
Matching the wood tones and tiles in the mural to the
existing wood work and tiles in the real bar makes for
a smooth transition between reality and trompe l'oeil.
